He was listed and was known as Stinson Hudson. He served in the Ashantee and Afghan wars, and was appointed by his Excellency to command the Turkish Regiment in Cyprus known as the "Pioneers" — a corps which was the subject of fierce attack in the House of Commons in 1879.
When his Government came into office in 1880, he was made Head of the Military Police, but in 1884 he quarrelled with the Chief (or some prominent person).
